Investments from another firm take a few extra steps to reach your DAF. Every firm handles transfers a little differently, so we’ll help you through each one.

How it works

We open a brokerage account for you at Altruist A regular account in your name. It’s a holding spot on the way to your DAF. We keep it open so future transfers are faster. Want it closed once your investments reach your DAF? Just ask and we’ll close it.
Your investments move into it They transfer as they are, without being sold, through a standard transfer between firms. This usually takes 5 to 7 business days.
We move them into your ClimateDAF That step is your gift. The date they land in your DAF is generally the date that counts for your tax deduction.

Our shared commitment: the ClimateNOW Prize

Every ClimateDAF member commits at least 1% of their DAF each year. Pooled together, we fund a shovel-ready climate project you can point to.

Not moonshots or advocacy experiments. Just shovel-ready projects that won’t happen without our money.

Terraset finds the projects Each year, Terraset finds and vets shovel-ready projects that wouldn’t get built without this funding.
We all vote Every 1% of your DAF you commit each year is one vote.
The winner gets funded The pooled commitments fund the winner, and each grant includes a before-and-after film.

How much will you commit each year?

The minimum is 1%, and you can commit up to 10%. Every 1% is one more vote and more money for the winning project.
